Exercise at least 30 minutes a day and get plenty of sleep. The healthier the body, the healthier the mind, and a better chance to fight back against troubling anxiety symptoms.

  • Relaxation techniques. Relaxation exercises, both during and before a panic attack, can be a valuable part of one’s “panic fighting” toolbox. Meditation, yoga and other exercises which focus on bringing a person’s breathing under control can significantly reduce the likelihood of panic attacks while sleeping.

  • Support. Sharing you fears with family and friends or with a support group can sometimes help you make sense of frightening panic symptoms.

There is no magic cure for panic attacks while sleeping. The best strategy is one which is aimed at breaking the cycle of fear which creates them. The time spent at identifying the extreme stressors which may precipitate a panic episode is time well spent, and can help people to cope with or eliminate the troubling symptoms.
